Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy
What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
PRP. obtained from whole blood, consists essentially of platelets and other blood components such as growth factors. It is used for Cosmetic Medicine, Hair Loss, Sports Injuries and Arthritis.
Platelets are responsible for healing and contain active molecules called growth factors, which allow for the natural healing of damaged tissues.
What does treatment entail?
PRP takes about 30 minutes and is performed in clinic by Dr Yusof. Several sessions may be required.
1. A blood sample is collected from the vein.
2. Blood is placed into a centrifuge and separation of platelets occurs.
3. PRP is collected into a syringe.
4. PRP is injected into area of treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Dr Yusof will tailor a specific treatment program suited to your needs.
What should I do after my PRP session?
Depending on your treatment program you may be asked to not wash your hair (Alopecia treatment only). You will be asked to not apply ice and refrain from taking anti-inflammatories for 24 hours.
When will I see results?
Results vary depending on the use of PRP. Dr Yusof will guide you on a rough estimated time of recovery and improvement.
